Painting of Pringle the Cat
Pringle was our kind and loving ginger cat who left us too soon.
We miss him a lot and always remember his companionship and cuddles. We adopted him in Los Angeles California from Best Friends and he even lived in Lima Peru for a year and a half.
He was family to us. We have discussed me making a painting of him for a while. I was pouring over photos on one of my computer drives trying to find the right reference photo.
We settled on a photo that I took where I centered his head in front of a painting that had a spiral with rays shooting out.
It’s an enigmatic image of him. You can see how noble he was and still is in spirit. To choose a canvas, I decided to paint over an older painting that I was always in limbo about regarding its completeness and significance.
It is a 3’ x 2’ canvas that really works well for a memorial piece of our missed fury son. I decided to use a projector that I acquired to make the outline process faster and easier. It was such a helpful tool.
I like the way it is progressing so far and I can’t wait to finish it and hang it on the wall.
I almost forgot. I decided to paint in oils. It has been years since I used oils and it’s a refreshing change. I’m thinking I might try plein air in oils next. I’ve painted in acrylics for years now, and I normally like the faster drying time.
Well, thanks for reading and I hope to have an update when it’s finished.
Cheers!
Owen
I love the pic of Pringle. He was a beautiful boy. This is a nice tribute to him.
